OUR SERVICES

At Ward Corporation, we pride ourselves as being a large enough business

to support the tooling, casting, heat treating, and machining requirements of our customers, yet small enough to be responsive and pro-active to assure ongoing customer satisfaction. Located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, this family owned business has successfully grown from 3 employees to over 200 employees throughout its four divisions.

WARD PATTERN & ENGINEERING

Ward Pattern & Engineering, Inc was founded in May 1964, with three employees. Today, WPE has both a wood and a metal division in addition to a CAD department. From a hand sketch to solid modeling, pattern tooling is constructed from wood, plastic or metal.

WPE uses Pro/Engineer and Mastercam CAD/CAM software on high-end  workstations with the ability to digitize a model or part for the customer. The computer aided design capabilities provide fast evaluation of engineering requirements and give WPE engineers rapid-prototype ability.

WARD ALUMINUM CASTING

Ward Aluminum Casting, Inc. manufactures high-quality aluminum castings in sand, semi-permanent and permanent mold processes. From non-heat treated commercial grades to high-strength heat-treatable alloys, WAC produces aluminum castings ranging from low-volume prototypes to high-production quantities, and is able to tailor their methods to meet the customers' casting and production requirements.

An in-house lab includes a 23-element vacuum spectrograph, 3D fluoroscopic x-ray unit and other advanced foundry lab testing equipment including penetrant inspection capability. WAC utilizes nitrogen-producing generators, rotary flux injection systems and mechanical filtering to clean and degas metal. These procedures achieve premium quality properties in aluminum in an industry recognized achievement.

The olivine sand system enhances the molding equipment which includes a B&P 2016 automatic molding machine, and three #3191 Osbourn Rotolift molding machines, with flask sizes up to 34" x 48". The permanent mold area includes automatic tilt-pour and static molding devices, producing both permanent and semi-permanent mold aluminum castings.

WARD HEAT TREATING

Ward Heat Treating is a non-captive production facility providing a timely, cost-effective service for aluminum heat treating. Operating 24-hours a day, seven days a week, this facility has a capacity of 750,000 pounds per week.

Two automated roller-hearth solution furnaces, two electric batch furnaces, artificial aging and stress relieving ovens, as well as shot blasters, extend the capabilities for specialty treatments.

A twin-screw electromechanical universal material testing machine performs tension and compression testing. This meets industry standards and advances metallurgical testing capabilities while utilizing a closed loop system

WARD PRODUCTION MACHINE

Ward Production Machine is a non-captive production machine shop, staffed with dedicated professionals.

CNC horizontal and vertical machining centers, CNC 4-axis turning center, computerized CMM capabilities are part of the latest technology utilized to meet the needs of each customer.
